Editorial policy, sources, and corrections.
The voice is loud. The factual standard is not optional. This is how we research financial safety content and keep commercial relationships out of the conclusion.
Our scope
Rich Retards publishes consumer financial education, scam warnings, product reviews, and cautionary stories. The goal is to help readers recognize expensive patterns and take a practical next step. Content is educational and general; it is not individualized investment, legal, tax, or credit advice.
Who publishes the site
Rich Retards is published by Centipede Software. Articles are produced by the Rich Retards editorial team. The book Rich Without Being a Genius is written by Rett D. Williams and published by Centipede Publishing. We do not claim professional licenses we do not hold. When a topic needs professional judgment, we tell readers to use a qualified lawyer, accountant, adviser, counselor, or law-enforcement contact.
Source hierarchy
For claims that could change a reader's financial decision, we prefer evidence in this order:
- Law, regulation, court opinions, regulator data, and official government guidance.
- Primary company documents such as fee schedules, terms, filings, and product documentation.
- Peer-reviewed research and established nonprofit or academic sources.
- Reputable original reporting that names its evidence.
New safety guides include a visible sources section. A link is not decorative: it should support the nearby claim. Dates are updated only when the underlying content is reviewed or materially changed.
Product reviews
Reviews separate observable facts from editorial judgment. We check current pricing, eligibility, major limitations, and the way a product earns money. We state who a product may fit and who should avoid it. A single editorial score is not represented as a crowd rating.
If we own, operate, or have a commercial relationship with a reviewed product, that relationship is disclosed near the review's opening and primary call to action. Compensation does not purchase a rating.
Scam stories, examples, and satire
A documented event should link to its source. A hypothetical example should be described as hypothetical. A composite story that combines recurring patterns should be clearly labeled as a composite. Humor may sharpen a lesson; it must not disguise whether a person, quote, loss figure, review, or event is real.
Financial calculations
Calculations identify their assumptions. Returns, savings, and future values are illustrations, not promises. We avoid false precision and do not present historic performance as a guaranteed future result.
Revenue and editorial independence
The site earns from ads, affiliates, sponsorships, a book, merchandise, and related products. The full relationship rules are in our advertising and affiliate disclosure. Sponsors can correct factual information about their business; they cannot approve the verdict or remove material criticism.
Corrections
Material factual errors are corrected promptly. When a correction changes the meaning of an article, we add a visible note explaining what changed and update the modified date. Minor spelling and formatting fixes do not receive a correction note.
Send a correction with the page URL, the disputed passage, and supporting evidence to corrections@richretards.com. We review the evidence, not the volume of the complaint.
Reader safety
Urgent recovery content prioritizes stopping further loss, contacting the payment provider through a verified channel, securing accounts, preserving evidence, and using official reporting systems. We never charge victims for recovery and we do not claim that lost cryptocurrency can be retrieved by a secret method.
